Around twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing wind gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand energy customers in the southern state also experienced power outages after the capital city saw its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services handled over five hundred emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both regions.
