Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
